It is believed that Chopra offered the role to Aamir Khan initially, but he had refused since he wanted to concentrate on the post- production of his home production movies – Dhobi Ghaat, Peepli Live and Delhi Belly.
In fact, Chopra had wanted to work with Shahrukh Khan since a long time, but something or the other always prevented both from working with each other. He wanted Khan to stars in films like Kareeb, 1942 – A Love Story, Munnabhai MBBS and 3 Idiots, but his wish was not materialised a single time.
Khan had agreed to star in 3 idiots almost, but later backed out when Chopra criticized his film Paheli and commented that Khan was trying to get Rajkumar Hirani for his home production.
All these criticisms and mudslinging affected the relations between them and they were not on good terms with each other.However, things improved after the multiplex-producer strike where they both made an appearance.
