A couple of years ago, he developed an interest in the sport and converted his huge Lokhandwala flat (when he moved to Juhu) in Skypan building into a parkour gym. Akshay with his son Aarav would regularly practice here.
His gym has been designed by world-renowned architect Daniel Dressen and houses the best equipment in the market. More than 100 candidates participated and Akshay's gym came in third. 117 participants took part from among 26 countries and the actor's gym stood out with its outstanding design and precise realisation.
It won a special distinction. Akshay says, "It's a huge honour for my gym to win a bronze at such a prestigious sports event.

What are the IOC / IAKS Award?
Every two years (since 1987), the IOC/IAKS award has been commending sports facilities of exemplary design and function. The competition is sponsored by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Lausanne and the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS), Cologne.
