88 bottles of blood is a birthday gift for Dilip Kumar: On his 88th birthday today, the students of Dilip Kumar’s alma mater, Khalsa College, have pledged to donate 88 bottles of blood to honour the veteran actor.
In 1940s, Dilip Kumar was a student of G.N. Khalsa College in Matunga. It was in this college that Mr. Kumar, as a young man, began acting in plays. He later on went on to be a superstar of Indian cinema.
Today, as he turns 88, the students of the college are honouring him by donating 88 bottles of blood in a blood donation camp. The blood will be given to the blood bank of a cancer hospital.
Moreover, the college’s auditorium will be named after the legendary star.
