Finally, here is a Hollywood film that is being accused of being a rip-off of a Bollywood flick. Directed by Anand Tucker, the film Leap Year is an out an out copy of Imtiaz Ali's Jab We Met and stars Amy Adams, Matthew Goode and Adam Scott .
And this is no loose speculation as the ‘Leap Year’ synopsis on the Universal Film news homepage clearly states: 'The film is loosely based on Jab We Met, a 2007 Bollywood film.'
As per sources, Tucker had become an immediate fan of ‘Jab We Met’ and had decided to make a foreign copy of the film set in Ireland.
However, director Imtiaz Ali has no clue about this development. Talking to a news daily, the talented taskmaster said, "I have not heard of it. But I am happy about it. I am not complaining. It is a good sign. I am glad that ‘Jab We Met’ is serving as an inspiration to others -- that too in the West. I would love to watch ‘Leap Year’.
Jab We Met was remade into Tamil as Kandein Kadhalai by director R Kannan. Bharath and Tamannah starred in it.
