Aamir Khan, the perfectionist super star of bollywood who is on a promotional spree for his upcoming flick ‘3 Idiots’, appeared.At a small village of Pranpur in Chanderi district of Madhya Pradesh and created magic by weaving a sari with Kareena Kapoor.
The gutsy Khan was there not only to promote his upcoming Rajkumari Hirani’s magnum opus ‘3 Idiots’, but also to highlight the plight of handloom weavers engaged in this fine art of making saris.
Sources say that as part of his encouragement to weavers, Aamir Khan not only bought a number of saris from them, but has already approached some of the best designers of the country to help these weavers in marketing their exquisitely made saris.
The sari that Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor weaved at Pranpur (it has names of both superstars) will be sent for auction through an NGO and the proceeds will go towards helping the development of Pranpur village. Besides Aamir and Kareena, Sharman Joshi, R Madhavan and Mona Singh also play pivotal roles in upcoming ‘3 Idiots’.
Aamir Khan had roped in co-star Kareena Kapoor at Pranpur as he wanted her to become the unofficial ambassador of saris woven by the handloom workers of the village. Kareena, who plays the love interest of Aamir Khan in ‘3 Idiots’, not only agreed to increase the use of handloom saris in her daily routine but was also thrilled at the opportunity.
However, Aamir Khan had already decided to increase the excitement of Kareena Kapoor by gifting her a beautiful handloom sari of worth Rs 25,000, woven by these workers. These types of black and gold saris (gifted to Kareena) were used to be made by these weavers during the days of Nawabs, who were the original patrons of these artistes. Aamir Khan even decided to gift one of these saris to his wife Kiran Rao.
Later, Kareena Kapoor revealed next clue for Aamir Khan’s fans which was that ‘Aamir Khan would be moving to Dada Ke Desh’. Now, it is for the fans to guess the real meaning of ‘Dada Ke Desh’ and proceed to that place if they want to meet the superstar.
It may be recalled that Aamir Khan has been playing this hide and seek game with his fans as part of ‘Alternative Reality Game’. The main purpose of the game is to promote his upcoming flick ‘3 Idiots’ in a unique way and create a strong buzz (as he had done with his earlier flick ‘Ghajini’ and its special hair cut) in favor of the film.
The film is slated for a worldwide release on December 25. The film has Aamir Khan playing half his age and studying in one of the prestigious I I Ts of the country. Sharman Joshi and R Madhavan play his classmates in the film. The film is directed by Rajkumar Hirani of ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ fame and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
