Happy Birthday Vidya Balan

It’s the start of a new year - a new decade according to many - and it’s also the birthday of the beautiful and elegant Vidya Balan - thirty-one years old today.

Kerala-born Vidya made a stunning debut in Parineeta and has since impressed in movies such.

As Lage Raho Munnabhai, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Guru, Kismat Konnection and most recently with the Bachchans in Paa.

How has Vidya been preparing for her birthday? “Spending a lot of quiet time, quality time with loved ones and focussing.

On the new year with renewed energy and positive thinking,” she says, “I’m thrilled at the response I got for Paa. It feels good and I’m raring to go at 2010.”

Vidya is looking forward to the release of Ishqiya in which she takes on a more brazen country-girl image.

The film also stars Naseruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi and has already raised expectations after a few run-ins with the censor.

Vidya is full of praise for her co-star Arshad in the movie. "Arshad is a brilliant actor,” she states, “I feel he is underutilised in our cinema. He is wonderful and I share a great camaraderie with him. He is really yet to get his due." In addition, she will soon start work on No One Killed Jessica, the story of the Jessica Lal murder and its aftermath.

Sush, SRK team up again

The film’s leading lady, Sushmita Sen, says DMG is a passionately told story and has a delightful plotline.

For her fans it is important because she teams up with Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan after their last superhit, Main Hoon Na.

It is now official that PVR has tied up to distribute the film through their network in Delhi, UP, East Punjab and Mysore. Morpheus Media Ventures.

The film’s presenters, and producer Viveck Vaswani are gung-ho about their PVR tie-up. And the film will have a colossal release in terms of prints across the globe.

The title track of DMG is already a hit this wedding season with baraats all over blasting it.

And for some live publicity action, on January 3, Fardeen will even dress in his bridegroom gear and drive in a chariot to a Mumbai mall to claim his bride, Isshita Sharma.

What’s more, Bollywood Hungama has registered more than 1,75,000 hits on Dulha Mil Gaya’s theatrical trailer (more than any other forthcoming film), in less than one month. “I’m elated,” says writer-director Mudassar Aziz, “We made this music and this film only to entertain our audiences, them enjoying it leaves me gratified.”

“It’s been a long but exhilarating journey. It’s been the best example of teamwork that I have ever seen. The unit stuck together through thick and thin. The scale of the film has to be seen to be believed,” said Viveck Vaswani, the producer.

Ranbir accepts single status

And finally now Ranbir Kapoor has accepted that he is single. Even though there are stories that he is dating Katrina Kaif now, even though there are stories about how.

Ranbir has managed to avoid answering queries in detail about his personal life, here's one that could put a lot of things to rest and it comes from Karan Johar.

A girl at a presser asked Ranbir Kapoor if he was single... and Ranbir blushed and replied... "If you are saying… yes…" Ranbir could not state his status clearly, but then Karan Johar took on the job.

"Yes Ranbir is single," he says nonchalantly.  But what exactly prompted Karan Johar to answer this query on his behalf.

While one does understand that it was Ranbir who has actually given the only hit that Karan Johar has had in 2009 in the form of Wake Up Sid, Karan also explains that he is Ranbir Kapoor's uncle.

"I consider Rishi Kapoor as my elder brother. And that makes Ranbir my nephew," says the filmmaker.
